pozivam vas sve na 2. sastanak naše podružnice u ovoj školskoj godini, koji će se održati u prostorijama srednje škole Bedekovčina (Ljudevita Gaja 1, Bedekovčina - besplatan parking), u petak 14.2.2020. s početkom u 16 sati i dnevnim redom kako slijedi:

1. Melinda Tupek: OLD FASHIONED) GAMES IN THE ESL CLASSROOM
   What constitutes a game? Why use games in English class? How and when can I use games in my class? These questions will be discussed and a wide variety of traditional classroom games will be explored. Handouts will be provided.
   Melinda Tupek is originally from Canada and has almost 30 years of experience teaching primary pupils. She has been a primary English  teacher in Croatia for the past 16 years.
2. Barbara Hanjilec: A wee talk on Northern Ireland
   A workshop on culture and how to bring it closer to your students.
   Barbara Hanjilec is our colleague from ŠUDIGO Zabok with tons of experience and great ideas as always.
3. Gordana Bujanić Tretinjak: WHYs and HOWs​ of making short videos in the classroom
   A workshop on putting students' mobiles to good use - teach them how to make video materials. ​Motivate them to activate their creativity,​ ​their knowledge​, ​and ​their skills ​by using their phones...​

1. Dora Božanić Malić: Most definitely not a Valentine's Day lesson

This workshop is based on two lesson plans which won a grant from the Ministry of Education's 2019 lesson plans incentive programme. It consists of a mix of storytelling, spoken word poetry and creative writing. Those in attendance will be provided with ready-made materials and activities adaptable to various levels (stronger students of seventh and eighth grades of primary school and up).

2. Davor Pleše: Fun activities with pictures

Participants are going to try different fun activities that can be used with purposes of practicing describing pictures, using appropriate grammar and vocabulary. Activities can be the centre part of the lesson or they can be used as icebreakers or fun ways to end the lesson. Depending on the choice of pictures and difficulties of tasks given to students, activities can be used with students of different age and levels of proficiency.

Storytelling We tell stories every day and we like listening to the stories. Why not use them in the classroom then. Why not create stories with our students using the grammar and vocabulary they already know.In this workshop I will demonstrate some exercises and show how easily you can create stories with your students.

• Anita Jokić:   Story of a friendship: Tom Jones and Elvis Presley

Love interdisciplinary lessons? Believe in life-long friendships? Come and enjoy a good story, listen to great music, watch a video, do a bit of acting, expand your vocabulary, play a quiz and research, create newspaper covers, laugh, and have fun. So will your students. Materials provided.

Use of digital tools makes it easier and less stressful. This workshop outcomes are: teacher learns how to make introduction and cover the topic using digital tools. 

2. Alenka Miljević : School for Life in experimental school

Alenka Miljević will share her experience about experimental programme School for life in practice in the round table format. Topics to be addressed are planning, assessment and use of new technologies in teaching English.

HUPE – Branch Karlovac will run its third meeting in the school year 2018/2019  on Thursday, 9 May 2019 at 19 10 p.m.  in Industry and Trade Vocational School, Domobranska 2, Karlovac.

It is a pleasure to announce that Konrad Kellett, a teacher trainer, will run a workshop School for Life goals: Classroom to real life!

Conrad Kellett has been a teacher, teacher trainer and director of studies for many years, working predominately in the UK and Croatia where he currently resides. Conrad teaches across all age ranges and is still actively teaching both primary and secondary children in Croatia. This enables him to see the best of both worlds and exploit the advantages of both. He is also an examiner for several of the most prestigious English examinations.  He regularly delivers teacher training workshops on behalf of Pearson, The British Council, Study group International and View Magazine. With an educational background in English language and Literature he has a passion for encouraging students and teachers to be creative and ambitious in lessons. He believes creativity is the key to memorable lessons and effective learning outcomes.

In this workshop, Conrad Kellett will show how to create a pathway to blend the classroom and real-life situations. During the workshop we will look at strategies and activities that will enable our students to take a more central role in their learning experience, encourage independent learning and facilitate communicative language communication and cultural communication competence. HUPE – Branch Karlovac will run its first meeting in the school year 2018/2019 on Tuesday, 5 February 2019 at 18 30 in Industry and trade Vocational School, Domobranska 2, Karlovac.

Marina Hadžiomerović, an experienced primary school teacher from Medvedgrad Primary School in
Zagreb, EFL councellor, teacher trainer and materials designer (Školska knjiga) will hold a short talk on use of music in class and run two workshops.

Marina’s main field of interest is using songs in teaching. She has run numerous workshops at conferences and seminars in Croatia and abroad. She is a HUPE ex-board member, language and music lover, educator at heart. She is eclectic, curious and open-minded and her workshops creative and a great fun!

First workshop, Overture Undersongs offers six songs by famous bands/singers that have never reached TOP 10, but are nevertheless awesome. In this workshop, after a short introduction into the theory of the use of music in the classroom, the presenter will show how to practise different skills and points of language focus. Ready-made activities in handouts for immediate use in class will help teachers teach creatively and students have fun in acquisition of affective and effective vocabulary and grammar, expressing opinion and fostering creativity. A variety of tasks will engage participants in pair/group work and choral practice.
The most active participants will win CDs. The playlist includes:

Second workshop, Hearts and Shamrocks, related to St Valentine’s and St Patrick’s Day will offer interesting Valentine & St. Patrick wordsearch & crossword puzzles both for primary and secondary school students as well as show how to teach parts of speech in creative way having fun.
This short workshop will encourage students to express their opinion and discuss on certain topics.
The participants will enjoy the music of Billy Joel, The Beatles, Christina Aguilera, Emmylou Harris, Fairground Attraction, Frank Sinatra and Traditional.
