Abstract & Summary: Teachers are constantly expected to prepare students for a complex, multilingual, and rapidly changing world. However, sustainable educational change cannot happen without motivated, empowered, and supported teachers. This session explores the vital role of teacher motivation, wellbeing, and professional purpose in creating meaningful language learning experiences.

Drawing on contemporary educational research and practical examples from schools, the presentation highlights how small pedagogical shifts can foster:

  • Greater Engagement: Fostering deeper student involvement and dynamic classroom interactions.
  • Resilience and Autonomy: Developing independent learners equipped with the psychological tools to thrive.
  • Teacher Wellbeing: Encouraging a sustainable approach to teaching that protects educator health and professional passion.
