The first HUPE Slavonski Brod branch meeting in the school year 2026–2027 was held on Tuesday, 13 October 2026 at the Elementary School “Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić” in Slavonski Brod. The meeting brought together HUPE members for an engaging afternoon of professional development, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas and examples of good teaching practice.
The agenda included:
- Ivana Opačak & Ivan Devčić: Rights, Not (Only) Flowers: An Interdisciplinary CLIL Workshop on Gender Equality & Workplace Rights
- Ivana Borozni: Step by Step to Confident Speakers: Building Presentation Skills from Age 6 to 18

The first workshop, titled Rights, Not (Only) Flowers: An Interdisciplinary CLIL Workshop on Gender Equality & Workplace Rights, was delivered by Ivana Opačak and Ivan Devčić. The presenters showcased a successful example of interdisciplinary cooperation between an English language teacher and a law teacher through a CLIL-based approach. Using International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month as the central context, participants explored how language learning can be combined with civic education and legal literacy.
The second workshop, titled Step by Step to Confident Speakers: Building Presentation Skills from Age 6 to 18, was delivered by Ivana Borozni. Through practical examples and hands-on activities, participants explored ways of gradually developing students’ speaking and presentation skills across different educational levels. The workshop focused on creating a supportive classroom environment that reduces anxiety and encourages students to communicate confidently in English.
During the HUPE News section, members were informed about upcoming professional development opportunities with emphasis on the upcoming HUPE conference in Zagreb, future branch meetings, and other activities organized by the association. Attendees were encouraged to continue sharing examples of good practice, contribute to HUPE publications, and actively participate in future HUPE events.
